Please tell us about yourself.

Oh, that's such a broad question - you DO want your audience to stay awake for this, right?! Let's see...the basics are: born June 27, 1962; live in Acworth, Georgia, a northwest suburb of Atlanta; blessed with a wonderful family and circle of friends; and have a borderline-obsessive appreciation for high-end electronics and chocolate.

Beyond the basics, my greatest extra-curricular passion is travel, especially western Europe, and particularly Italy; in fact I’m currently learning Italian with the goal of becoming fluent this year. I'm a lover of life, a total believer in the Law of Attraction (because it works), and I will never stop helping people achieve their goals.

Congratulations on the 10 year anniversary! What have you taken away most from the journey so far?

Thank you - and what an incredible ten years it has been! I hope EVERYONE read the announcement about the year-long cash and prize giveaways! Empowerism constantly adds new features. Can you tell us some of your favorites and what else can we expect in the near future?

For many years we’ve had what was once a cutting-edge HTML video course in the Training Center, but I want something more engaging and current.

And, finally, I will be reintroducing a topic that I have been very passionate about for a long time: health. Over the years I have written many articles about finding balance and making health a priority – emotionally, physically, spiritually, etc. I started a series in the January, 2008 Excellence Magazine focusing on the components of holistic health, exploring the benefits of a healthy mind, body, and spirit. This is a campaign I plan to continue, and so far it has been well-received. I believe there is nothing more critical to experiencing the joys and meeting the challenges of life than having a solid, healthy foundation.

In your opinion, why do 95-97% of people fail in Internet Marketing?

Doug, there is only one reason: They quit.

So then the question becomes: Why do they quit? My personal observation is that these 97% display a low tolerance for the kind of obstacles successful entrepreneurs often work through to reach their goals. Sadly, most people are ****ed in by the ridiculous "get rich quick & easy" hype – also known as the lottery mentality, but those of us who have made our dreams come true know that is simply a fantasy. Even when we launched our RSVP and MVP programs, I made it clear that their success depended upon their commitment to continue growing their Empowerism business.

Building an Internet business often requires one to traverse rocky, frustrating, lonely roads, and you won’t see any hyped-up ads or websites exposing that fact. But, the payout - the experience of succeeding at something you wanted so badly you couldn't sleep at night from thinking about it - is absolutely, positively worth every cut and scrape along the way. Success is primarily a matter of “what is your reason WHY and what are you willing to do for it?”

When someone complains that Empowerism (or any other worthwhile business) “doesn’t work” my response is always, “Empowerism is only the vehicle and it works for anyone who takes driving it seriously. The vehicle cannot control how you drive it, or even IF you drive it. But when you decide to put yourself firmly in the driver’s seat, take the wheel, and drive until you reach your destination, Empowerism is a reliable, sound vehicle. If Empowerism “doesn’t work” then we’ll have to come up with another explanation for the $100,000+ in commissions we send out each month!

What do you see in the future of Empowerism and Internet Marketing in general?

The future I hope for Internet Marketing is that people will realize that:

• there are no shortcuts – you may as well accept that truth right now,
• niche specialization is where to put your efforts – find one or two areas of expertise that you are (or can become) passionate about and build your Internet Marketing career around that, and
• social networking is not for everyone, in fact it’s often just an excuse to, well, socialize rather than do the hard work necessary to succeed. Don’t get me wrong – social networking is huge and those who are serious about it are cashing in, but like any other form of putting yourself out there and cultivating the reputation of a trusted expert, to see grand results you must immerse yourself in it, and many people aren’t willing to take on that kind of workload. (And I strongly encourage everyone to read the comprehensive, four-part Social Networking course in the Jan-Apr 2008 Excellence magazines.)

As for the future of Empowerism, what I know for sure is that it will always change and grow to accommodate the times, the trends, and the needs of our subscribers. There is no real secret to longevity – you just have to be able to adapt to change and commit, unflinchingly, to success.

The Home Business Marketing Strategy That Has Never Failed

Today I'd like to share with you the strategy I used when I
first got online many years ago to generate automated income
from home. This strategy still works today. You can use it
to sell your own products or you can use it to sell other
people's products as an affiliate or partner. It can work
in practically any niche market.

The theory is simple. Build a list of people who have given
you permission to email them about a particular topic and
then send relevant information and special offers to those
people promoting products and services that you are selling.
This is a very easy way to make money.

The first thing you need to do this is a tool called an
autoresponder. An autoresponder is simply a tool that
collects subscribers for you and gives you the ability to
email those people in mass. For example, with an
autoresponder you can type an email message saying anything
you want, load it into a field that looks just like the text
area you type any normal email into, click Send, and your
message will be delivered to all your subscribers instantly
addressing each one on a first name basis. This could be
just 10 people or it could be thousands, even millions.

When you use an autoresponder to send a message promoting a
product you are selling to a targeted group of subscribers,
you have a very good chance of making sales if what you are
offering is something that your subscriber database is
interested in.

From my point of view, a lot of the information and systems
available online which try to help people make money are
over-complicated and often mis-guided. The same simple
formula for making money online that worked for me (someone
with no previous experience) almost 10 years ago is still
working today and it's very, very simple to apply. In fact,
I'll walk you through the steps I use (and so do many, many
others) to pull in automatic profits 24 hours a day, 7 days
a week, 365 days a year like clockwork.

The first thing you need is an autoresponder. You don't
even need your own website for this. There are many good
autoresponders on the market. One that I use is called
GetResponse which you can take a look at:

As you'll see if you subscribe at the site above, my free
mini-course will be delivered to you automatically by email
as if it's written to you personally. This takes no effort

to deliver this mini-course to you and thousands of other

Another autoresponder I use is called AutoResponse Plus. You

difference between GetResponse and AutoResponse Plus is that
GetResponse does not require you to have hosting. It's

own hosting account where the company will install the

This brings me to the next step of the process of making
money on autopilot with an autoresponder. You need
subscribers. The fastest way to build a permission-based
list of subscribers of people who are interested in what you
have to offer is called co-registration. That's what the

Once you know about these services, the steps to make money
online are really very simple.

Step 1) Get an autoresponder.

Step 2) Order subscribers.

(works with AutoResponse Plus and most other autoresponder
in the market, not GetResponse though)

Both of these service can be setup to add subscribers to
your autoresponder automatically without you needing to lift
a finger. Just go through the guided setup process when
placing your order and they will take care of the rest.

Step 3) Make an offer.

Send valuable information and special offers to your
subscribers on a regular basis. This is a simple process for
making money on autopilot that has never failed me.

In the beginning, I didn't have a lot of money to invest in
advertising. That was a good thing. It forced my mind to
think about and discover what technique had the lowest risk
associated with it. You see, I figured that if I purchased
500 co-registration subscribers, all of these people were
mine to contact as often as I wanted until they either
bought something from me or unsubscribed. So in the case of
Get Subscribers, today I need to pay $189.95 to get 500
guaranteed subscribers. That's 500 people who have given me
permission to email them as often as I want. Do you see how
powerful this is?

In my niche market, I promote home business products,
services and opportunities as an affiliate which all pay
very generous commissions. If I email my list of 500 people
a few times and just get 5 (1%) of them to sign up for one
of the products or programs I promote, I've already made a
profit. But the real beauty of this type of advertising is
that even after I've made a profit on my initial
investment, I still have my complete list of subscribers
(minus the few that have unsubscribed) to continue emailing,
building a relationship with and promoting different
products to. If I'm even the slightest bit creative and
consistent with sending offers to my list, I can make a
small fortune with this single asset.

What I've described above is EXACTLY how I started making
money online many years ago and how I still earn a healthy
percentage of my money today.

Maybe you're thinking that setting up an autoresponder and
building a list is easy, but you don't know what to email
to your list to make money. If that's the case, I invite
you to consider that nearly every affiliate program or
business opportunity you can join provides pre-written email
marketing letters that you can simply copy and send to your
list. In most cases, these letters are proven sellers which
is why the affiliate programs and business opportunities
provide them to you. They have tested them and experienced
positive results already.

That said, in my own experience, I usually find that I can
get improved results with letters I write myself to my list
when I am sincere and offer my own personality, point of
view and value to an offer I am promoting.

But the bottom line here is that making money online can be
very simple. You don't even need to have your own website,
you don't need to attend any seminar or buy any expensive
marketing courses, or pay for one-on-one personal coaching,
etc. You just need to look around and watch what other
people (the big dogs) are doing to make their money. In most
cases, they are simply building list and emailing that list
special offers and announcements to promote products that
generate revenue for them. Instead of being on the receiving
end of this one-way marketing barrage, put yourself on the
delivering end of the emails and receiving end of the
commission checks and bank deposits that arrive when you
setup your own autopilot online marketing system.

All you need is an autoresponder, subscribers and an offer.

Attention: JURY DUTY SCAM

My daughter, an attorney, has just made me aware of the following scam that is affecting those who are eligible for jury duty. I thought it worthy of being put here.

JURY DUTY SCAM: This has been verified by the FBI (their link is also included below). Please pass this on to everyone in your email address book. It is spreading fast so be prepared should you get this call. Most of us take summons for jury duty seriously, but enough people skip out on their civic duty, that a new and ominous kind of scam has surfaced. The caller claims to be a jury coordinator. If you protest that you never received a summons for jury duty, the scammer asks you for your Social Security number and date of birth so he or she can verify the information and cancel the arrest warrant. Give out any of this information and bingo; your identity just got stolen. The scam has been reported so far in 11 states, including Oklahoma, Illinois, and Colorado. This (scam) is particularly insidious because they use intimidation over the phone to try to bully people into giving information by pretending they're with the court system. The FBI and the federal court system have issued nationwide alerts on their web sites, warning consumers about the fraud.

It's been a while since I posted here but I just couldn't decide on which topic I wanted to promote. I have been working mostly on promoting affiliate marketing so here is an article titled 5 Qualities for Affiliate Marketing that I felt could be helpful to some of you. Today I am going to talk about creating an ebook. Sometimes it is hard to comprehend being able to just sit down and write but it is doable. The hardest part of writing is the first sentence. When you look at the whole project it seems like an impossible task. That's why you have to break it down into manageable ones.Think of climbing a mountain.

You are standing at the foot of it and looking up at its summit vanishing into the clouds. How can you possibly scale such an immense and dangerous mountain?

There is only one way to climb a mountain. Step by step.

Now think of writing your ebook in the same light. You must create it step by step, and one day, you will take that last step and find yourself standing on the summit with your head in the clouds.

The first thing you have to do, as if you actually were a mountain climber, is to get organized. Instead of climbing gear however, you must organize your thoughts. There are some steps you should take before you begin. Once you've gone through the following list you will be ready to actually begin writing your ebook.

Beginning Steps to Writing an Ebook

First, figure out your ebook's working title. Jot down a few different titles, and eventually, you'll find one that will grow on you. Titles help you to focus your writing on your topic; they guide you in anticipating and answering your reader's queries. Many non-fiction books also have subtitles. Aim for clarity in your titles but cleverness always helps to sell books as long as it's not too cute.

For example: Remedies for Insomnia: Twenty Different Ways to Count Sheep. Or: Get Off That Couch: Fifteen Exercise Plans to Whip you into Shape.

Next, write out a thesis statement. Your thesis is a sentence or two stating exactly what problem you are addressing and how your book will solve that problem. All chapters spring forth from your thesis statement. Once you've got it fine-tuned, you've built your foundation. From that foundation, your book will grow, chapter by chapter.

Your thesis will keep you focused while you write your ebook. Remember: all chapters must support your thesis statement. If they don't, they don't belong in your book. For example, your statement could read: We've all experienced insomnia at times in our lives, but there are twenty proven techniques and methods to give you back a good night's sleep.

Once you have your thesis, before you start to write, make sure there is a good reason to write your book. Ask yourself some questions:

* Does your book present useful information and is that information currently relevant?

* Will your book positively affect the lives of your readers?

* Is your book dynamic and will it keep the reader's attention?

* Does your book answer questions that are meaningful and significant?

If you can answer yes to these questions, you can feel
confident about the potential of your ebook.

Another important step is to figure out who your target audience is. It is this group of people to whom you will be writing, and this group will dictate many elements of your book such as style,
tone, diction, and even length. Figure out the age range of your readers, their general gender, what they are most interested in, and even the socio-economic group they primarily come from. Are they people who read fashion magazines or book reviews? Do they write letters in longhand or spend hours every day online. The more you can pin down your target audience, the easier it will be to write your book for them.

Next, make a list of the reasons you are writing your ebook. Do you want to promote your business? Do you want to bring quality traffic to your website? Do you want to enhance your reputation? Do you want to become considered as an expert in a niche market?

Then write down your goals in terms of publishing. Do you want to sell it as a product on your website, or do you want to offer it as a free gift for filling out a survey or for ordering a product? Do you want to use the chapters to create an e-course, or use your ebook to attract affiliates around the world? The more you know upfront the easier the actual writing will be.

Decide on the format of your chapters. In non-fiction, keep the format from chapter to chapter fairly consistent. Perhaps you plan to use an introduction to your chapter topic, and then divide it into four subhead topics. Or you may plan to divide it into five parts, each one beginning with a relevant anecdote.

How to make your ebook "user friendly"

You must figure out how to keep your writing engaging. Often anecdotes, testimonials, little stories, photos, graphs, advice and tips will keep the reader turning the pages. Sidebars are useful for quick, accessible information, and they break up the density of the page.

Write with a casual, conversational tone rather than a formal tone such as textbook diction. Readers respond to the feeling that you are having a conversation with them. Break up the length and structure of your sentences so you don't hypnotize your readers into sleep. Sentences that are all the same length and structure tend to be a good aid for insomnia!

Good writing takes practice. It takes lots and lots of practice. Make a schedule to write at least a page a day. Read books and magazines about the process of writing, and jot down tips that jump out at you. The art of writing is a lifetime process. The more you write and read, the better your writing will become. The better your writing becomes, the bigger your sales figures.

In an ebook that is read on the screen, be aware that you must give your reader's eye a break. You can do this by utilizing white space. In art classes, white space is usually referred to as
"negative space."

Reader's eyes need to rest in the cool white oasises you create on your page. If your page is too dense, your reader will quit out of it as soon as their eyes begin to tear.

Make use of lists, both bulleted and numbered. This makes your information easy to absorb, and gives the reader a mental break from dissecting your paragraphs one after the other.

Finally, decide on an easy-to-read design. Find a font that's easy on the eyes, and stick to that font family. Using dozens of fonts will only tire your readers out before they've gotten past your introduction. Use at least one and a half line spacing, and text large enough to be read easily on the screen, but small enough so that the whole page can be seen on a computer screen. You will have to experiment with this to find the right combination.

Of course, don't forget to run a spell and grammar check. You are judged by something as minor as correct punctuation, so don't mess up a great book by tossing out semicolons randomly or stringing sentences together with commas. (By the way, that's called a"comma splice.")

Last of all, create an index and a bibliography. That's it! You've written a book! Now all you have to do is publish your ebook online, and wait for download requests from your website visitors.

I hope you all are doing well in your online marketing. I have days where I feel that things are going so well and then the next day the feeling gets reserved when something doesn't pan out. But as time goes by I see a steady progression for the better. I imagine this happens to many of you!

When building websites there are two main options: large content site or small mini-sites. Large content sites normally focus more on providing "information". Mini-sites, however, normally have one purpose only, to sell.

Given what search engines want, large content sites are much better for getting search engine traffic. Most of the time (unless you're excellent at optimizing) it's hard to get mini-sites to rank well for competitive keywords.

This is why most do NOT rely on search engines for traffic to their mini-sites.

In all honesty, the best strategy is to combine the two types of sites by having a large content site to rank well with search engines that feeds traffic to your mini-sites.

I have made more than $6,000 from one mini-site just by targeting it to the right forum in my signature file. All I did was leave a nice statement in my signature file; in 1 month I attracted over 5,000 targeted visitors that converted to over $6,000 for me.

The basic strategy here is that you need to find related forums and become active in them. Get yourself known, find out what those members talk about and find an affiliate product to fit their demand.

Then, make a nice, simple, yet captive site with a great headline followed by a review of the product. Test it and if it pulls well, you have a winner. If not, choose another product.

#2: E-zine Advertising
I would rate e-zine advertising at the second best way to gather traffic to your mini-sites only because this technique can cost some money. Forum promotions have no cost (typically). However, e-zine advertising can provide much better results.
Forum marketing requires you taking the time to make sensible responses or asking good questions. With e-zine advertising, however, you just write a good promotion and let the publisher send it out.

An advantage of e-zine advertising is that you know before you promote that you have a targeted audience that has already expressed an interest in your topic.

Also, the subscriber and the publisher most likely have a good relationship (considering the subscriber has not left) and so your promotion comes with credibility and may get more attention.
One of the keys to doing well with e-zine advertising (for me) has been repeated ads in the same e-zine. I have found that my results are best in the second of third promotion. However, if I get no results on my first mailing, I do not repeat that e-zine again.

Warning: Not all e-zines are the same. Some will be major winners and others will be major flops.

#3: Directory Sites
Alright, here is the controversial technique that I use very successfully. I know some of you will think that it is "wrong" - but in the end, my job is to teach you how I get my traffic; that is exactly what I am going to do.

Directory sites are sites created by software that automatically build you a site which is 500 or more pages. These sites are just simply uploaded to a domain name. Most (if done right) tend to do well with search engines. That traffic is then forwarded to your mini-sites.

As you can see, we're holding fast to our policy of building a funnel system where we use the large sites to bring in the "no cost" search engine traffic (which is also highly targeted). However, all the "selling" takes place on our mini-sites.

Large sites = Traffic Gathering Mini sites = Conversion Into Sales
Obviously there are many more techniques to use to attract traffic to your mini-sites such as banners, pay per click, link exchanging, etc... I just wanted to discuss the top 3 that are the easiest to implement and require the least learning curve (in my opinion).

Hi everyone. My blog today talks about affiliate programs not just from the view of the affiliate but the merchant also. I think sometimes he or she gets overlooked when discussing affiliate marketing.

There are Two Sides of Affiliate Programs

Affiliate programs have similar and yet different requirements for the merchant and the affiliate.

Let us look at the various categories that apply to both merchant and affiliate.
First of all advertising is definitely required. The merchant's advertising is directed not only to the visitor to his site but also to the affiliates he wishes to recruit. He probably would have to spend more at the beginning but as he gains more affiliates he would be able to reduce that cost and let them bring in the buyers. Of course he has expenses that relate only to him and we will discuss those later.

The affiliate's needs to advertise also and his advertising will be the key to his success. Driving traffic to his affiliate links is as important as to his own web-site if he has one. He can use any means such as email marketing, using squeeze pages, forum advertising, etc. He can't just sit back and think it's going to be easy without putting in good effort.

Choosing your partner, so to speak, is another category. The merchant generally will accept anyone who signs up, gives his correct information such as email address, name and address and website. There are some who will check out that site, for instance, but generally this is not necessary. Having your own site shouldn't be a requirement (although it is helpful) for the affiliate because it offers him a means to promote his affiliate campaign.

Now the affiliate has many requirements here. In choosing the product to promote he should have it fit with his marketing niche so if he does promote it on his website it fits in. He needs to research such things as:

1. Reliability of the product
2. Visitor interest. Is it something people are looking for? Just because the commission looks good it doesn't mean anyone wants to spend his money for it.
3. Testimonials. Are there some available, not just on the merchant"s site but perhaps in forums?
4. Buying the product himself. This will give him an excellent method to check it out first hand.
5. Is the price competitive? And would YOU be willing to pay it?6. Number of affiliates and the sales ratio. Too many affiliates may mean too much competition and too few may mean the product isn't very saleable. but on the other hand it may be a fantastic sleeper. He might have to take a chance if he feels the product is good. Limiting his advertising at first might help, until he evaluates his results.

In his evaluation of the affiliate program itself here are some of the questions he should address:
1. Affiliate program history. Is the program well known and does it pay as promised?
2. Marketing tools available.?
3. Sign-up procedure. Does the site offer clear instructions, availability of support at any time, payment procedures, etc.?
4. Account details are available at any time?
5. Privacy and terms spelled out?
6. Is there a good tracking system?

The merchant, on the the other hand, does have research he needs to do before offering his products for sale.
1. What kind of expense will he have establishing the product? This will vary greatly, depending on the product itself. Does he make it or does he pay someone else to do it.
2. Who sets up his website? Can he do it himself or does he need to hire someone?
3. How does he do the payment processing? Does he handle it on site or does he use a payment processor such as Clickbank? Buyers generally will trust the payment processor better, especially if it is well known. Also it makes it easier for the merchant as he doesn't have to worry about the details. How are chargebacks going to be handled?
4. What kind of commission is he going to offer? Should it be a one time payment, is there residual income offered and does he offer payment for future sales? How will he best track visitors and sales?

Mistakes made on both sides, not necessarily the same ones
1. Merchant sets commissions too low. Obviously won't attract many affiliates.
2. Sets commissions too high. His profit margin will obviously be squeezed.
3. Site not adequately explaining the merchants program. This will end up having the support center overwhelmed with requests.
4. Setting up too high a minimum payment procedure.
5. The affiliate doesn't advertise sufficiently, then blames the merchant for not having a good product.
6. The affiliate doesn't do the research necessary before he signs up.
7. Signing up for too many programs so he doesn't give enough promotion to any of them.
8. If he does promote several, he doesn't use an organizer of some type to help keep track of his advertising and commissions.
So each partner in the affiliate process has his own requirements and needs and yet there are similarities. It takes two to have a partnership and that's what it really is.

Electronic mail, better known as email, is the most important tool used on the Internet. It's much faster than snail mail, less expensive and enables you to instantly communicate with your visitors and customers.
Although most Internet Service Providers include email accounts for their customers, these accounts really aren't adequate for a Internet business -- especially if you get a large amount of email. Not only do the email addresses contain your ISP's name, but they are also very limited on features and options.
There are many email programs available on the Internet. However, the best program I've found is Eudora. Eudora is a standalone email program that works with any ISP. It will enable you to easily organize your email by filtering your messages into specific mailboxes. This feature alone can save you a great deal of time. What's more, your email address will be your own domain -- not someone else's. One of my favorite features is the ability to create an unlimited number of personalities. What this means is that you can specify the "from" address depending on the message you're writing. For example, if you're answering a support request, you can set up a personality that displays support@yourdomain.com or whatever you'd like as the "from" address. Best of all, it's free. Basic Email Guidelines
Although writing an email message may seem simple, there are some important issues that need to be taken into consideration.
Subject Line
The subject of your email is the most important part of your message. Your subject should be short and provide a summary as to what your message is all about. This is especially important if you need to grab your readers' attention. For example, if you send out a mailing to your ezine subscribers, you want the subject to instantly grab their attention and intrigue them to open your message. Just because they subscribe, doesn't mean they'll actually read your publication.
Formatting
Although there has been a great deal of controversy over the best email format -- HTML or text, text is still the best option. HTML messages may look nice; however, not all of your readers will be capable of viewing your message. If you'd really like to use HTML, the best way to accommodate all of your readers is to create two versions and allow your readers to make the choice.
Line Length
When you begin typing your email message, keep in mind, some email programs don't automatically wrap the text. What this means is that although your message may look great to you, your email recipient may receive your message as one long sentence or it may look something like this:
Thank you for your interest in ourproducts.We are dedicated to providing youwith quality products to assist you in your endeavors.
To prevent this problem, limit your line length to under 65 characters per line. This can be accomplished by using a hard carriage return (hit enter) at the end of each line.

Linking
When placing web addresses within an email message, some email programs will automatically create live links with web addresses beginning with "www." However, other email programs will only create live links when the web address begins with http://. To alleviate this problem, always include the full URL beginning with http://.
The America Online email program is in a class of its own. Their email program won't create live links with any form of web address. In order to create a live link within AOL, you must include a complete HTML link. To accommodate all of your readers, consider including two links for each URL -- one beginning with http:// and the other with the complete HTML link code.
When including an email address within an email message, always include "mailto:" directly in front of the email address. This will enable most email programs to create a live email link. AOL will require the complete "mailto:" HTML code.
Another important consideration is the use of punctuation with web addresses -- especially periods. Some email programs will include periods within a live link. When clicked on, the browser will return an error. There are a couple of ways to alleviate this problem. You can enclose your web address with brackets and place a period after the closing bracket <http://www.yourdomain.com>. Or, you can place your web address on a separate line like this: http://www.yourdomain.com
When including a long web address within your message, some email programs will force part of the URL to the next line. When the live link is created, only a portion of the URL will be live. When clicked on, the browser will return an error. To avoid this problem, try to keep your web addresses short. If necessary, you may want to consider creating a redirect HTML page with a shorter URL.
The appearance of your email message is an important part of your professional image. If you follow these simple guidelines, you can almost completely alleviate these potential problems.

All is going well as I am learning more and more on my journey to internet success. Sometimes I get ahead and sometimes I feel that I have taken a big step backwards. But as I keep evaluating my choices I have made I do see a gradual advance in my marketing efforts.

One of my failings has been to try too many things. There is so much advertising it's hard to choose. Claims of huge immediate income I do manage to avoid most of the time. The sites that seem to promise a steadily increasing income, even though it may not be much at first, appeal to me.

I try to back out very quickly if the promises are obviously not going to be valid. I don't mean to give up too fast but one needs to be careful of investing too much too quickly. I know there those who say you have to stick it out for a while but I think the more informed you become the easier it is to make intelligent decisions, especially when it affects your pocketbook.

I have also found that the more I learn about this fascinating internet marketing business the more I realize that I have so much more to absorb. The choices out there are tremendous and gradually you will find the niche for you. But also the more you read you gradually find yourself leaning more and more to the area that fits you. Thus you can steer your learning into a more focused direction.

I urge anyone who is a beginner to take heart if it seems discouraging at first. Although I must say that at the very beginning I was all pumped up. After finding out that not everything is as it appears at times. then I began to doubt myself. But as I said before I do now see a pattern of small successes, because I have stuck to it. And you should too.
At the very beginning of my blog I stated that it was all about my journey as a beginner, and so far it has been well worth it.

Hi, my subject today comes from an article by Anik Singal. He is an author that I particularly admire and plan to publish several of his articles here. This article on mini-sites would be especially interesting to those who are just beginning and don't want or aren't able to jump right into a full fledged website. When building websites there are two main options: large content site or small mini-sites. Large content sites normally focus more on providing "information". Mini-sites, however, normally have one purpose only, to sell.

Given what search engines want, large content sites are much better for getting search engine traffic. Most of the time (unless you're excellent at optimizing) it's hard to get mini-sites to rank well for competitive keywords.

Not Willing to Leave Just Yet?

When people are young, the word retirement is not something of much concern. It is 20 or even 30 years away and a lot can happen during that time. It is something that slips in and out that is given little thought.
Some companies offer early retirement to its employees. Even if the age of retirement is officially at 65, there are some who are not yet willing to leave and would rather work some more instead of enjoying the other pleasures that life has to offer.
A job or a profession to some is what makes the person a member of the community. It makes the person feel important for the years of service given and the number of accomplishments one has achieved. These are things that some people hold on to which makes retirement hard to accept.
The psychological impact makes it hard for someone who has lived in a fast paced world to adjust to a life that is at a more leisurely pace. Some forms of leisure after working for so long can be done by spending more time with family and friends, playing golf or cruising around the world.
Another reason is perhaps the person who is still employed is just waiting for the right moment or package that the company will give out to its employees. Such issues are whether or not the retirement package that is being offered is higher than the projected earnings if one stays employed or if the retirement fund can be used immediately once it has been given.
Some people can get more just waiting for the normal retirement age than accepting the company’s early retirement plan. Instead of saving, one might end up forfeiting and miss out on opportunities to make additional contributions to the plan.

People who don’t want to retire yet are also concerned if the offer given by the company includes post-retirement medical insurance. This is because Medicare doesn’t start until one has reached the age of 65 and the cost of getting private insurance is expensive.

There are risks in deciding to stay if a retirement offer is on the table. Business may not be doing well prompting the company to lay off workers or even have the position one has eliminated due to redundancy.
The most important reason that makes some employees still stay is that regardless of age, one strongly believes that one can still do more being at the job, feeling that they are healthy enough to continue.

But there is another avenue to explore--the internet. Often the only reason one stays on working is the fear of not having enough money so that he or she can take advantage of the retirement activities in which he is interested. Or he knows he would be bored with no regular schedule. What one needs to do is to start exploring the online world. Type in "homebased-opportunities" or a similar phrase and see what is brought up, which is just the start of thousands of possibilities.

One of the problems is that there are so many and so are the promises that they will offer. So be cautious if you decide to do more research. The outrageous promises of Thousands of Dollars Immediately is just a ploy and it does take time and effort to make a success of any business, not just on the internet. But one good factor is that there are a variety of money-making opportunities, from setting up your own website to selling your own or other people's products and services. These products are not just physical products but electronic information, such as ebooks.

Some of the opportunities are free to setup and paid ones range widely. But what one needs to do is start looking around for the ones that appeal to you, go the various sites to obtain information and compare the advantages and disadvantages. The cost of course is one fact to consider but not always the the most important one. One needs to be comfortable with the company, especially if he needs to advertise. You won't be successful if you don't believe in your product.

If you find that internet marketing appeals to you then you can start in part-time while evaluating the opportunities. And as you start earning income (which may take a while) you can then factor the results into your retirement planning and when you want to do it. You will be better able to determine if working on your own without a timeclock will work for you. Self-employed people, probably, will find it a little easier on this because they have been working more on their own anyway.

This blog is to make you aware that retiring isn't just sailing off into the sunset.

Hi everyone. Today I am going to write about choosing the right affiliate program that fits you and the steps you need to take before you make the decision. Remember that affiliate programs are a way to make money without great cost.

Before choosing an affiliate program you need to ask pre-prepared questions for program comparisons There are so many affiliate programs from which to choose that you need to pick the one (or ones) that will best benefit you. You will see all kinds of offers that promise you the high earnings. What you need to do is set up a plan with your questions and then compare various programs that you think might work for you.

Costs to join: Most are free because it costs them little to have you do the advertising and send the referrals to them. Then they will pay you depending on the their requirements.

What you get paid for: Usually there are 3 statistics from which to choose by the company: sales, hits and impressions. Sales of course if your referral buys a product, hits are clicks on your banner or text link and impressions are the number of times someone views the links. Generally the average sales are paid from 5-20%, hits are .01-.05% and impressions very little because you need 1000's of them to count. Not every one pays for the hits and impressions. Find out what their average hits to sales average is by all affiliates.

Tracking: How do they track your referrals and how long do they stay in the system? Is there a method for you to track your referrals to their site and do they continue to give you credit if the referral doesn't buy right away, but may do so later on, even months away.

Statistics: What kind of details do they offer and make available to you when you login to their site? You want to be able to keep a close eye on them so you can evaluate your results and also allow you to see if your advertising is working or do you need to improve it.

Commission checks: How often and when are you paid-weekly, monthly or longer? Do they have a minimum amount in order for the checks to be issued? Do they offer a 2 tier system whereby they pay you for sales generated by the referrals as well as their becoming an affiliate?

Company history: How long have they been in business? What are the products and do you really believe in them? Don't join if you are a little unsure whether they are worth the money being asked. That attitude could carry over into not promoting your company as well as you should. I recommend going to forums and ask some questions. People love to give advice and recommendations and you could get a better picture of the program.

Tools and resources: Do they offer advertising tools such as banners, classified ads, e-mails etc.,usually with their links embedded in them already with your affiliate number? Often they will offer a series of emails that you can use with your autoresponder.

Conclusions: Beware of outrageous claims as to high commissions and also be leery of companies that keep bombarding you with offers. They seem to be more interested in getting you as a customer instead of just letting you do the referrals. (You probably won't see this until you have actually joined.) Some of this information will be a little harder to obtain but I think if you setup the questions you want to ask ahead of time it will go a long way to matching you up with the best program (or programs) that are a good fit for you. It's probably a good idea to start with one and once you get more experienced you can use that knowledge to branch out and join more.

It seems like more and more sites are offering affiliate programs so you can decide what type would appeal to you. You have a wide choice, just be thorough in your research before making a decision. It's terribly easy to just sign up with first site that offers you the moon.

Hi readers!

I hope that anyone who is reading this blog is working successfully on their internet marketing business. Everyone has a different idea as to the best way to earn money on the internet, from elaborate websites to no websites, from joining afffiliate progarams to just advertising clickbank products. forgive me for leaving out hundreds of others.

I know that some marketers look down on making residual and affiliate income but sometimes that is the best method for many, especially if they don't have the resources or the time to explore many different avenues in marketing their website. Or one can do both. Today I am going to talk about a program that is just exploding on the scene and I am going to unabashedly promote it. I know that when you go browsing you see hundreds of ads claiming the huge profit you can make from just signing up, sometimes with no upfront fee. After you have seen so many of these, you get a sense of overkill and wonder just how they can follow-up with their promises. Of course no one can predict the future and I know that they all mean well, but I would bet that a very small percentage actually make it. One I am betting on is Prowealth Solutions.
This website just started up with a pre-enrollment period where you could actually sign up as a free or paid member and immediately secure your position in their powerline and matrix. And the business doesn't officially open until Sept 15th! If you are a free pre-enrollee you are given until Thursday night at midnight each week to upgrade. Anyone who has upgraded immediately leap frogs towards the top, thereby going above those who are still pre-enrollees and can not go back up the line to where they woud have been by upgrading. They will have to start over the next week. Commisssions are paid weekly and will start Aug 17 for anyone joining before thursday Aug 8 at midnight.

Internet "fantasy" of making a lot of money from a simple
(almost primitive) web site that runs itself virtually on

How did I go from a standing start to banking mega

To do that, what I think you really need are these inner
secrets to mega internet success. This has nothing to do

* Secret #1: Cheerful Expectancy *

One of my biggest mentors is Earl Nightingale. He passed
away several years ago but you need to get everything he
recorded at Nightingale.com. He has a program called "Lead
The Field" and "The Strangest Secret." Just listen to
that thing over and over again. He talks about cheerful
expectancy.

There's a big difference between having expectancy versus
hoping or wishing something is going to occur. When you
have that cheerful expectancy, you know it's going to
occur. And that doesn't just come from being
"Pollyannaish" or having rose-colored glasses.

It comes from having knowledge. And you get that
knowledge from studying in your field whatever it is. It
could be Internet marketing or it could be neurology. That
means reading, studying and buying everything and
absolutely immersing yourself in it.

I learned from Earl Nightingale that if you want to be an
expert, you spend an hour a day reading on whatever
subject that you're interested in, that you want to be an
expert on. So I said, "Well, what would happen if I read
for three hours a day?"

I just started learning as much as I possibly could, and
that knowledge gives you the confidence to know that you
have that positive expectancy. Your expectations determine
your results.

* Secret #2: Do one proactive thing a day *

You don't need to do 100 things a day. Just get that one
proactive thing a day. So each little brick builds a big
wall for you. Trust me it's easy to be overwhelmed with
hundreds of tasks. You're like, "Oh, we need to do e-zine
ads and free-for-alls and pay-per-click search engines,
and I need to do all this other stuff." Ahhhhhhhhhhh!

But just relax and do one task a day.

Your action will create more and more and more action for
you. You simply need to make a commitment to do one
proactive thing a day no matter what. Even if you're dead
tired and worked a 14-hour day - come home and mail one
letter or send out one joint venture proposal. I'm telling
you - just these little tiny proactive things will have an
immense impact.

Most everyone has heard of the '80/20 rule' or the Pareto
Principle. It says that 20% of your actions produce 80% of
your results, and the other way around. 80% of your work
only creates 20% of your results.

So go back and look where your successes came from, and I
know that they're from a tiny little group of actions. So
if you just get that one proactive thing a day (from the
20% group) that is going to propel you further, that's
going to bring you to where you want to be.

Make it a point to focus on those "20% activities". In
Stephen Covey's famous work "7 Habits of Highly Effective
People" he calls these activities "important but not
urgent".

One of my Apprentices, Peter Woodhead, from the UK is a
perfect example of simply doing one proactive thing a day.
A lot of Apprentices bolted out of the gate during our one
year program but Peter was an Internet newbie and he also
had a full time job so he was a bit slower getting
started. However, he took my advice and simply managed to
do one proactive thing every single day. No matter how big
or how small. It could be writing one autoresponder
message or it might have been writing 50 headlines. No
matter the day - Peter was moving ahead. And not
surprisingly his project was completed before many of the
other Apprentices were finished.

* Secret #3: Decision *

This is such a big point. A lot of people have so many
problems with decision. That's because they don't like it
because it cuts off other options. But frankly that's
exactly what you want. You want to cut off other options.

One of our top apprentices, Cindy Kappler, WebAdMagic.com,
had no other option but to succeed because she quit her
job. Now I'm not encouraging you to do that if you still
have a real job but it does prove if you cut off your
options, you're much more motivated. Successful people
make decisions quickly.

There's a magic of attraction when you make your decision.
However, when you're hemming and hawing, you don't
experience this magic. I don't want to get into too much
woo-woo or metaphysical or spiritual stuff.

But there's this magic of attraction. I can't even
explain it. When you set your mind up that you're going
to do this, all of a sudden, at the next dinner party
you're attending you meet somebody that can help you get
to where you want to go. Is that luck or is that
something else?

I don't think it's luck.

It's like once the decision is made your mind is tuned
into the solution and all kinds of 'freaky' coincidences
and occurrences happen.

And that brings me to another important point about
decisions - fail quickly. Don't be afraid of failure. A
lot of people are so afraid of screwing up, or making a
mistake that they are forever frozen. Who the hell cares?
Screw up quickly! I screw up all the time. And you want
to fail quickly.

That's the great part about the Internet. You want to go
out there and find out if your dumb idea is going to work
right away. You can do it in days instead of months.
Sometimes hours and if it doesn't work, you move on. You
say, "Next!"

Look, I know a lot of people who are working on their
products for the last two, three, four years. Get the
damned thing out! You just make it better as you go
along.

InstantSalesLetters.com, our first product was not where it
is now. We've added a ton of stuff to it and made it
better. But I just wanted to see if the thing was going
to sell.

It wasn't complete and utter rubbish, as my British
friends say, but it was enough that it made the point. It
found out if there was a marketplace for it. So find out.

Some people like to go around at dinner parties and so on
and say, "I'm writing a book. I've been writing a book
for five years. I'm an author."

Uh huh...

I can show you 6 different ways to have your book done in
days. It's a cop-out and complete B.S. Bottom line - make
the decision to get the product out there. See what
happens and fail quickly.

Success University offers Self Improvement courses, which is
a genre that I have always been interested in. So, making a
monthly payment to improve my knowledge and earning power
seemed a no brainer to me. The investment seemed small
compared to what I could gain, that's without taking into
consideration the money earned through promoting the product
to others.

The above formula is just one way to check out whether the
product is something that you can sell to others in good
conscience.

Secondly, if you want to make money from your network
marketing company with the least possible effort then you
must look out for a GREAT compensation plan.

This folks is a no brainer - I have been a member of one
particular network marketing program and in spite of the
presence of a great product AND personally recruiting
hundreds or thousands of members, the monthly payout was
comparatively very low. The compensation plan did not
significantly reward me for my efforts and subsequently I
have lost interest in continuing apace. I would much rather
expend the same amount of effort for greater gains.

When perusing the compensation plan ask yourself - Can I
start earning with the least amount of effort and more
importantly will my income grow exponentially through the
time and efforts of both myself and those on my team?

You may also want to find out how others are earning by
searching the online forums. People love to boast and if the
money is being earned then you'll hear about it.

Keep in mind the couple of points above when choosing a
company to put your weight behind and you won't go too far
wrong.

Hi, after telling you how I started getting involved with the internet starting with SFI, I found that I needed more than one avenue to create income and also find different ways to advertise the SFI site. I soon realized that a website of my own would offer me that. I could advertise and send prospects to new sites plus SFI. I saw 3 possibilities:
1. set one up myself.
2. Hire someone to do it.
3. Go to one of the sites that advertise no or low-cost set-up.

Obviously the first was impractical because I would have had to study a great deal to learn how. The second choice could prove to be expensive. The third looked promising but I did much searching to pick one out that fit my needs, such as low cost, speed, promises of help in how to manage it. I finally chose Stone Evans' Pluginprofit site because he offered several streams of income, fast start-up, and low cost. He actually sets it up for free but two of the programs have small fees and a couple are free for a trial period. Updating is offered too but all in all I spent less than $100.

I signed up and had my own website in a couple of days, it being a weekend. At
first I wasn't sure how to proceed(and a little nervous because I was afraid I would mess something up.) But soon I started receiving Stone's 30 day e-mail course which not only is thorough, it took me by the hand, so to speak, and guided me through a maze of internet marketing techniques. I definitely was not left by myself. It taught me many facets of website promotion such as becoming familiar with each of the programs within the site, e-mail techniques, writing ezines and articles,
gaining rankings with the search engines,and methods of advertising etc.

The website, http://www.pluginprofitsite.com/main-12544, offers not only the opportunity to have your website set-up, there are many internet marketing aids and residual income possibilities. There are educational links as well as a traffic exchange link, an autoresponder link, and others which are being added all the time.
The name plugin is so appropriate because so many features can be "plugged" in and it can be added to at any time. By the way SFI is one of the links.

I will say that after a period of time I am very satisfied with my choice and I urge anyone to give it a try. Remember, it's never too late.

On writing up my journey to becoming an Internet Marketer I ran into somewhat of a roadblock as my computer had problems. I could write but I couldn't get online. Well here I am and today I am going to discuss some of the vocabulary that I found strange at first and thought it might be of help to you to explain them.

Website- collection of web pages, which are pages that can be accessed on a computer connected to the Internet.
Link- usually highlighted text which takes you to another page, either on your website or another's.
HTML- hypertext transfer protocol) which is a set of rules by which information is transmitted. Codes affect text size, color, various instructions etc.
Search engine- software that searches keywords on sites. Keywords are what you enter into a browser to search on the internet. The search engine actually ranks the sites based on keywords.
Web server- a computer system that offers information, files, web pages and other services to the client who logs onto it. Ex. all the information and files related to your website would be stored on one.
Web browser- program that can connect to a website and retrieve information.
Domain name- identifies a website.
Url-(uniform resource locator)-identifies the address and type of internet resources you are connecting to. Ex. http
Cookies- a file that is placed on your hard drive by a web server to then track your surfing habits.
Affiliate programs- Companies that pay you to drive customers to their site.
Spam- Sending unsolicted e-mail, which is a serious infraction on the internet.
Opt-in- process by which a subscriber fills out a permission form so you can send him e-mail.
Download- To retrieve information from another computer or website.
Upload- To send information to another computer or website.

This has been a rather simplified explanation but I know it would have helped me at the beginning. Where ever you are in the process of starting out, I wish you good luck.

In my first article about My Journey to Become an Internet Marketer I spoke about browsing the various sites to try to find a good starting point and I did. The immense array of income opportunities boggles the mind. Many of those which promised huge fortunes immediately turned me off, I must admit. Finally I chose one that seemed to fit the picture I had of a good beginning opportunity. I picked SFI, a marketing group which offered the prospect of free websites all made up for me, a great variety of products to sell, an extensive trainng program and a promising affiliate program. I was also keeping a record of other promising leads.

Signing up with SFI (http://www.moreinfo247.com/9166182/free.23) was extremely easy and in no time I had a series of websites that linked to SFI and immediately started to receive information on how to get started. What could be easier for a beginner to get her feet wet? I could see right away that I would have many different avenues to start earning commissions. As an example I placed some clasified ads on http://usfreeads.com/16721_refer.html where I could start promoting my site. This was just a beginning but I was learning all the time. One valuable resource, besides all the training classes, is the SFI forum where you can listen and discuss with other affiliates many of the problems you might run into and many suggestions from the more experienced.

This all seems quite simple but when you are starting out cold you need to simplify all that is out there or you will be tearing your hair out. And I found that as I became more comfortable with the whole process, I could see possibilities of other ways to go also. My thought for this day would be to take the plunge and , as I found out, everything will start to get clearer. I would also advise anyone, expeienced or not, to get involved in forums as much as you can because the help out there is incredible.

My name is Nancy and not long ago I didn't know anything about Internet marketing or what opportunities there might be to start a home business online. I just knew that I needed more income so I started out. Some of my questions were:
How much money could I realistically earn?
How much money would I need to spend?
Do I need products and how would I get them?
Is there help or training out there?
How do I get started?

But I decided to take the plunge and this newsletter will be a continuation of that journey. I will try to answer the above questions and many more. At first I felt totally overwhelmed by all the information that I found when I browsed in home business categories. But gradually I was able to sort out various offers and could compare and rate them. I also found that I was gaining valuable information and getting some answers to my first questions. I also found that some answers just opened up to more aread that needed to be explored.

As I continue my journey I will try to to give you an idea about how you could get started with a homebased internet business from the perspective of a 71 yr old woman who found that she could work on the internet as shown by my site shown below.
